In the past 3 years, what have you done to improve your skills as a real estate professional?

I have improved my skills as a real estate professional by diversifying my education and experiences in ways that codify a challenging environment; which has improved my ability to lead in this industry and to embody the total concept of what a REALTOR® is.  Challenging myself with not only attaining my TN Broker license but also opening my own real estate brokerage as the principle broker has improved my ability to see things through a different lens at the macro level.  The classes I have taken with CAR to include graduating from the CAR Leadership Academy in 2022, and along with obtaining my NC Broker license is compounded with graduating with my Bachelors degree in political science from APSU.  I believe in continually diversifying your experiences to improve your skills as a real estate professional.  I have worked with clients not only in residential sales but also commercial sales and property management which has improved my overall skillset as a real estate professional.  As a Graduate Student with APSU for my MBA I feel that education and experiences outside the real estate industry collate to your improved skills.  My desire to improve in every aspect of what I do in life will never yield and I will continually embody improving my skills as a real estate professional.

What is your history of service to this association and its members?

After graduating from CAR Leadership Academy in 2022, I took 2023 to improve on my College education and starting my own brokerage here in TN along with NC Broker requirements.  Prior to that I have served on the Professional Development Committee, YPN Committee, Government Affairs Committee and RPAC Committee since 2020.  I have enjoyed each committee and the challenges we have faced with improving our association.  Professional Development is one of my favorite committees because I believe that the development of our REALTORS® is at the forefront of success we share in our industry and market here in Clarksville.

Why are you seeking the seat that you are?

I am seeking a seat as one of the Board of Directors because I feel it is the right time to make a contribution to the association in this capacity.  In the next few years the decisions our board of directors make will highly impact the direction of our associations future.  If elected, I look forward to challenging the status quo and holding ourselves accountable for the decisions we make in a leadership role.  Every member of this association deserves leaders that are candid, educated and not afraid to speak up against the “that’s how it’s always been done” mentality.  I will advocate and influence decisions that will make our association even more efficient and I will always work towards improving our “Foxhole”.

What do you feel are your strongest attributes that you will bring to this position if elected?

The strongest attributes that I will bring to this position if elected are efficiency and effectiveness.  I am methodical and tactical in my approach to making decisions.  I believe in understanding the 2nd and 3rd order effects of decisions we make.  I do not recommend or make decisions just to make them.  I am not afraid to speak up for what I feel is right and will always give my honest assessment and feedback to whatever the situation presents.

Additional Comments:

As a 20+ yr Retired Army Combat Veteran I value the need for an ethical and professional approach to leadership.  Our industry will need a body of leaders that is willing to put the needs of our association above their own when making decisions that impact every REALTOR®.  If elected, I will humbly embody that responsibility and do my best to be a value added resource to our board of directors.
