In the past 3 years, what have you done to improve your skills as a real estate professional?
Education is my passion, and I strive to learn as much as possible about the real estate industry to enhance my career. I believe education is an intangible asset that no one can take from you. I reached a lifetime goal, at the age of 54, and graduated from college in 2022, Cum Laude, with a A.S. in Business Administration. I have obtained my TN broker’s license, the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation, Military Relocation Specialist (MRP) certification, Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) designation, At Home with Diversity (AHWD) certification, and I will graduate from the CAR Leadership Academy by the end of this year. The real estate industry is ever changing and keeping up with the current trends, laws and regulations is a must for any real estate professional, no matter how many years you have been in the business.
What is your history of service to this association and its members?
I am the current Chair of Professional Development. I have been on this committee for several years and it is my favorite committee to serve on at CAR. In the past three years, I have been on the Budget and Finance committee, and back in the day I served on the Building and Facilities Committee. I’m currently on the Education Task Force sub-committee and assist Professional Development with novel ways to improve the offerings of education at CAR, such as the Certified Local Expert (CLE) certification class offered for the first time this year.
Why are you seeking the seat that you are?
As part of the board of directors at CAR, I know I can bring new ideas on how to improve our association, develop future leadership, enhance our policies and build stronger bonds with our affiliates. I believe all members have a voice and I want to hear from them and take their ideas back to the table and let them be heard. I have always been a “be part of the solution, not the problem” leader and if think changes are needed, I will work towards a solution with new ideas and suggestions. In our current real estate climate, it is my belief that we have to be creative with the current changes in which we do business. The services REALTORS® provide are valuable and with a strong association behind us, we can continue to be a relevant asset to the real estate community.
What do you feel are your strongest attributes that you will bring to this position if elected?
I consider myself to very level-headed, authentic, and results driven leader. When something is presented to me, I ask questions and will gather all the information to make an informed decision. I will challenge the status quo, not take the easy way out of a situation and motivate others to achieve something new and better. Brainstorming with my peers is something I enjoy and together, we can attain strong leadership at CAR and improve our member’s experience.
