In the past 3 years, what have you done to improve your skills as a real estate professional?
Over the past three years I’ve improved my skills attending state conferences as well as this past year going to DC to attend the Legislative Meeting. Along with my continuing education classes I continue to find better ways to educate my clients as well as the general public. Education and communication is the key I feel to a successful business.
What is your history of service to this association and its members?
Since becoming an agent in August 2011 every year since 2012 I have served on committees here at CAR. Marion Jewell told me when I began my career the best way to become engaged and strive in the industry is to get involved at our association. I took her words at heart and dove in and haven’t stopped. I’ve had the pleasure of serving on Member Engagement, Helping Hands, Leadership CAR, RPAC, Spreading Our Support Foundation, Attainable Housing Community Coalition and Govermental Affairs. It was my honor to also chair on Leadership CAR, Helping Hands, RPAC and Govermental Affairs. I am also a 2013 graduate of Leadership CAR class.
Why are you seeking the seat that you are?
The reason I’m running for board member this year is because I feel I have more to give to our association, its members and affiliates. We are faced with times now where it is important to keep educating our community on who we are and what we as Realtors -not only in a transaction but for the community also.
I also look forward this year to building the line of communication stronger with our local government. Attainable housing as we all know is an issue we face here locally but it takes a team to make a difference. We’ve started getting our voices heard and I want to continue to be someone who is making a difference.
What do you feel are your strongest attributes that you will bring to this position if elected?
Some of my stronger attributes are my willingness to help others. In the association we often see the same people doing the same things. I am one who loves to mentor and help others, to help them grow in our association and help them become new leaders and mentors.
I enjoy volunteering with our association and my church. I am wanting to share those experiences with others so we can do even more for our community, get more members involved so they can experience the same gratification I have and we can touch more lives.
